The Leadership Roadtrip, April 28 - 29
5 PM Friday - 1 PM Saturday
This year at Celebration, we’re inviting youth workers to bring their student leaders and adult volunteers to University Covenant in Davis. We’ll be joined on Friday and Saturday by Mark Oestreicher from The Youth Cartel. Together we’ll explore "Non-Coercive Ministry Leadership" through is new book, “Leading Without Power” and we’ll look at the core principle of “Belonging” as the #1 ingredient for a healthy Youth Ministry.
Marko (that’s what people call him) has been involved in church ministry his whole life, particularly with teenagers and youth workers. He served 11 years at Youth Specialties, the last 8 of those years as president. Marko has authored 70+ books and is a partner in The Youth Cartel, providing resources, training and coaching for church Youth Workers.
Friday Evening: Leading Without Power, Marko will lead an interactive work- shop to help our Youth Workers, Student Leaders, and Adult Volunteers under- stand their unique leadership potential. Saturday Morning: Marko will lead us in a collaborative discussion about the climate of our Youth Groups. What steps might we take to create an atmosphere of belonging.
WHO SHOULD COME? ANYONE YOU WANT TO LEAD
The dynamics of your leaders together will determine your outcome! Wouldn’t it be great to have our Student Leaders and our Adult Volunteers leading from the same understanding of philosophy! Students, Volunteers, and Youth Workers will benefit from engaging in a leadership discussion that takes into account all the cultural shifts our students are experiencing in the world right now!
MEALS/SLEEPING ARRANGMENTS - A CHURCH FLOOR
Dinner on Friday is a catered meal as a part of Celebration. Breakfast will be at University Covenant and is grab-and-go. Lunch will be provided for you as you pack up and get ready to head home. That’s right, we’re sleeping on the floor at University Covenant to keep the costs as low as possible. It’s one night. You can do it!
COST - $40 WITH BUS, $25 WITHOUT BUS
We will rent a bus for those in Southern California to get to University Covenant. You’ll have to miss a day of school to arrive on time. The bus has 50 seats available and you must reserve your seats online at pswc.squarespace.org. Nor Cal people, thanks for driving.
WHAT TO PACK - 1 OVERNIGHT BAG
Pack a sleeping bag, pillow, a change of clothes, and an air mattress (if you have one). You’ll want to bring toiletries, a Bible, pen, and a notebook. There are no showers; you’re only going to be with us for one night.
